Finley Quaye Kicked Off Stage 30 Minutes Into Show For Obvious Reasons

This is a prime example of blatant unprofessionalism. Though us musicians may not always wear a suit and tie to work, we must still be professionals. This goes cross genre, and applies to any venue. Wether you're playing a $20 gig in your local coffee shop, or playing a massive stadium, you need to be a professional. You don't have to have experience to be professional. You can be a professional from your first gig. If you take too long to get your act together, you won't be in the music business for much longer! Soundcheck is for you! Showing up to soundcheck for Quaye could have avoided this entire catastrophe. It is out of respect for the venue (they want to make sure their acts sound good), and out of respect for yourself- You want to make sure you sound as good as you can! Showing up with a completely different backing band is insane! I can understand have a sub fill in here and there, but in that case they would hopefully have all of the tunes memorized, or at least a good understanding of the charts. It was disrespectful, and should never be tolerated in any venue. Take a look at everything Finely Quaye did wrong to get kicked off the stage, so we all learn a bit from his mistakes! The promoter who kicked Finley Quaye off the stage due to a lacklustre performance this week has explained why he stepped in and stopped the singer's show. The musician was performing at the Convent Club in Woodchester, Gloucestershire when promoter Matt Roberts called time on his performance. Quaye was accused of failing to attend soundcheck, eventually arriving onstage an hour late, and not delivering an adequate performance, which Roberts labelled "bulls**t" at the time. Really Finlay Quaye….? Whats it all about mate http://t.co/mXPYYzygxR — soulm8 Magazine (@soulm8online) July 15, 2015 Speaking to NME, Roberts elaborated on the events. "We broadcast [shows] around the world; the thing was live, the show was live at nine o'clock [and] the guy turned up at five past nine. He had no back line, he had none of the instruments that were in the contracts, he had none of the band that were in the contracts. He had session musicians that had never played for him before."   "I personally waited in the car park until he arrived so I could made a judgement in the car park whether he was a to fit to state to go on, so it was my responsibility, and I spoke with him before he went on." "And I considered that there could be magic, so that we would get him on. We got him on an hour after the show began online. Sadly, from that point on, you’ve seen five minutes of a 30-minute riff. All he did is that for 30 minutes before the last five minutes, and the crowd were turning so you hear on the video they were whistling and it got [...]
